Was everyone aware?
No lie, I definitely would not have known if I had not been on twitter all morning and seen the trending topics!
There was a great article about Oatmeal Day on Slashfood and it made me realize that I definitely have two boxes of this in my pantry!

I actually prefer the Trader Joe’s brand of Instant Oatmeal, but as Slash points out Alton Brown’s recipe for Steel Cut Oats, there are so many different ways to prepare this healthy breakfast (lunch or dinner) option! I would love to try to get myself on a habit of eating Steel Cut’s every morning, maybe that way I will not be so hungry when lunchtime comes around!
Happy National Oatmeal Day!
What is your favorite recepie with this stuff?

This has to be mine – so simple and classy!!
One of my law-mates made this over the weekend after being hungover from the weekend, and I must say that it was fab! (Thanks Paula Deen!)
Has anyone started cooking for the holiday weekend?!
Another busy week!
I’d thought I would share a fun email I got about Riesling today from The Daily Sip – enjoy!
Riesling – “The German Juggernaut”!

Guten Tag! Ich heiße Riesling.
You’ve heard of me, ya? But how much do you really know?
A few things to consider next time my name catches your eye on the shelf or wine list:
1. Chardonnay stole my spot as the darling of white wines. Back in the Victorian era, I was on all the royal tables.

A few things to consider next time my name catches your eye on the shelf or wine list:
1. Chardonnay stole my spot as the darling of white wines. Back in the Victorian era, I was on all the royal tables.
2. You might call me tart because of my high acidity, but I have enough sugar to balance out my bite–look for flavors of white peach, lemon, honeysuckle, apricot, and melon. What a harmony.
3. Unlike the early-ripening Chardonnay (so eager), I am a late bloomer. The longer you leave me hanging, the sweeter I get. Trust me – I am worth the wait. In Germany, they call this late-harvest wine and rank it on the Pradikat system.
4. I am a survivor. I can live much further north than any other naturally-occurring white grape variety.
5. Even though I am independent in the bottle (I hate being blended with other grapes), I am über-tasty with food. Pair me with sushi, spicy food, and most Asian dishes–some of the hardest foods to find wines for. Now you have something to try.
NBC Thursday!?! Who else is excited?!
Which is it?! Anyway, that is what my meals are looking like lately!!
Lunch yesterday was less than exciting

…and I was still hungry after all this, but maanaged to wait until after my workout to chow down. I came home and warmed up some spaghetti that was prepared Sunday night for last night and voila!

Hit.the.spot.
Lunch today was not so hot, and I am now dedicated to challenge myself to not eat pizza (unless its from Geraci’s) because I caved in and had some gross, greasy pizza and I have had a stomach ache all day!!
Aside from Mr. Plum

And my awesome breakfast on Sunday (sorry it is out of place but I had to put it in!!)

I need some quick, easy, on the go lunches!! I had a salad, but it definitely got super soggy and gross from sitting out boo – and the fridges here are soooooo crowded!!
Any suggestions?!?!
ALMOST FORGOT!!
As must as I appreciate living in the midwest because of the change in seasons, during the time when the TEMPERATURE actually changes is probably one of the worst things in the world.
My allergies go crazy, I am tired/hot/cold all at the same time and I feel worse than first-day-of-high-school-freshman-year UNCOMFORTABLE!
Not to mention, being in law school, work takes over – so having said that its going to be a collage for this week’s eats!

I had every intention of posting this friday, but after class, work, and computer training, I came home and completely crashed in time to hurry up and get dressed and ready for a happy hour downtown with Tim’s family!
Saturday Tim and I lounged alllllll day after the OSU game, did a little shopping, and I was back home at 11, dreaming of all the work I had waiting for me Sunday.
No worries, I am determined to be stress free this week – and plan on starting it off right by finishing this work then watching GG!!
Have a week!
Busy, Busy, Busy Week!
Like I said, I was throwing around the idea of doing posts about alcohlic beverages exclusively, just to share some drink ideas and likes/dislikes about cocktails!! Here it goes!
Cosmopolitan.

Look at the pinky goodness!!
We have all heard (some tried) this classic martini, but I have found that every place serves it up in their own style!
This particular Cosmo was from Ruby Tuesday’s and they were offering this as their drink of the day, so I thought why not?!
- Absolut Citron
- Fresh Lime Juice
- Cranberry Juice
PROS:
- It went perfect with my meal and was so nice to have something freshing and low cal since I ordered burgers and fries
- This must not have been 100 cranberry juice since it was so pinky and did not taste like it AT ALL – but I was not complaining!
- Even though it appears this is a small drink, you can definitely have one of these for the night and you will be OKAY – especially if you are at a business dinner and are not trying to drink too much.
- Martini’s in general are a nice social drink to have despite where you are, and often restaurants will have specials on them during happy hours etc., so you wont always be paying an arm and a leg!
CONS:
-THIS particular cosmo did not have a very good mix of the alcoholic content and the mixers because it was VERY strong when I first tasted it.
-I ended up getting a seocnd round which was not at all prepared the same way – it was RED and was almost too heavy on the juice – oh well!

It is just the beginning so hopefully I will able to get some ADVICE FROM YOU ALL and make this more interesting!
Anyone else excited for NBC TV tonight?! THE OFFICE IS BACK!!
Any other college football fanatics out there?! I LOVE football, but college football (and basketball) is like no other! Soooo exciting and such genuine talent – can’t be beat!
Being from OH-IO, football is big around here but us Ohioans LOVE our Buckeyes!

See we even teach em young!
Last night Tim did come and rescue me and take me to dinner at Ruby Tuesday. We started with some drinks (which you will have to catch in my NEW martini review!!!
) and I decided on the Ruby’s Mini’s.

It was just OK, but I had a weird craving for some good ole burgers, and I was so hungry I did not care at this point what I was eating!
We crashed on the couch after watching A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints, which was pretty bleh too. If anyone else has seen this movie and totally understood the point – please feel me in! We both love Robert Downey Jr. and I have a small obsession with Channing Tatum, but I never really got the point of the movie!
This morning I was up early to go to my little brother’s flag football game (woo yeah 4th grade!) and Tim and I literally ran in and out of Panera’s for some breakfast sandwiches, and headed home so I can work on this dreaded paper
So I have been snacking on fruits until dinner and the BIG GAME!!

I hope everyone has a fun Saturday night! We are going out with Tim’s sister and brother-in-law for the game so I am sure I will have goodies for my next post!

GO BUCKEYES!!!
Well, what did you think I meant?! ![]()
Instead of doing THIS…
I was doing THIS!!!

![]()
That’s how I ended my night…but the excitement started when I got home to find THIS

Proof that my mom loves me?! I THINK SO!
Just look at this perfection
Toasted and ready for my belly…

If you don’t know what this is yet then let me happily tell you that it is none other than
PEPPERONI BREAD – and LLO (Love, Life, and Obsession pour moi)
And if you were also thinking that I have been eating basically the same food all week then YES you are correct about that because look what my best friend had prepared for us when I arrived to watch GG last night..

She isn’t a huge cook, but I was so hungry at this point I couldn’t resist! The salad had cucs, green peppers, and spinach and I added the most amazing salad dressing ever. Neumann’s Cranberry!

Dear Neuman’s…I love you and all of your products. Please send me a lifetime supply of this dressing!
It was delicious! My BFF also had a ’special surprise’ for me, and pulled out this bad boy from the fridge…

HELLO LIPTON – WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE. I seriously could have chugged this in about 10 seconds or less and asked her for another one, but now I am on a manhunt to find these! Over here in the CLE she said they sell them at a gourmet grocery store, but I will be checking the chains!
This morning I was up early (even though my classes were canceled!!!) and waited for the cable guy to fix my TV and was so frantic that I only ate some Cheerios, so by 2:00 when I picked up little brother from school I was impatiently hungry!! Panera’s is the closest thing to the school - and I’m not complaining!!
French onion soup (looks like a bowl of yuck but it is French Onion I swear!!)

And the last of my Pizzazz salad!

I am off to work on my paper – on a FRIDAY night – can you believe it?!
We’ll see how long this takes before Tim comes to rescue me!
Have a good weekend and GO BUCKS!!!
that I eat pizza all the time!! ![]()
I don’t know what it is about this school, but there is ALWAYS free food around! And when you have a 8:20am class and sometimes forget to pack your lunch, free food is all too tempting!!
Yesterday’s breakfast might look familiar…

Anddd its pretty much the same as today’s – so I will spare the double picture
Lunch I had a meeting for Women’s Law Association where they served none other thannnn….

Greasy pizza from BOGO – which I cannot find a website of yet but working on it!
Luckily I felt EXTREMELY motivated after eating this to go workout after class and I felt great! I was workin’ the elliptical and running my butt of all while watching the US Open!!
Getting home I was soo hungry, but I was not settling for a loss of all of my hard work for the day, so I dug into my Pizzazz salad!

With my post-work mix: Aria protein shake and a Vitaciv

Several helpings ensued after, and I STILL have some left!!
Unfortunately today (as far as food goes) is a sad repeat of yesterday, but I am determined to change things up for dinner tonight. I am meeting up with my best friend to catch up on GG before monday, and I have a bar review tonight (hidden meaning) that I am debating on going to. NOT TO MENTION…a 6-page paper due monday on 8 cases. RAR! ![]()
Did anyone see this article from the weekend?? MAYJAH shoutout to food bloggies!
